I got this bottle @godrejandboyce saying that it contains '30% cleaner air' than rest of the Mumbai. You know why? Because it is taken from the Godrej Vikhroli Mangroves. Isn't that cool?

Today is International Day for Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem and Godrej & Boyce who have been leading conversations for years on the importance of mangrove conservation, sent this to me to help spread awareness on the importance of the mangroves.
Did you know that #Mangroves absorb a massive amount of carbon from the atmosphere and trap and store them in the flooded soil underwater for millions of years? This carbon storage is four times more than the regular forests. That’s why Mangrove forests a blue carbon ecosystem on their own and their role is huge in preventing climate change. I recently attended a Godrej consumer product laun

I recently attended a Godrej consumer product launch event for @godrejmagic body wash. With a new approach, they introduced a refillable body wash which comes with an empty bottle and a sachet of gel body wash. Every time the body wash is finished, it can be made and refilled with gel and water at home.
In this way, the use of plastic to make bottles can be reduced. Their aim is to make the product accessible and economical and to encourage people to make responsible choices while providing them with an alternative to refillable body wash.
This body wash is made using only 10% of the total energy required to make a soap bar, and 19% of the energy as compared to a regular body wash. As the gel-based sachets are small and light, more sachets can be transported in every truck, leading to 44% less diesel consumption resulting in 44% lower carbon emissions as compared to transporting a regular body wash. While the bottles and sachets are made of reusable and recyclable plastic, they also said to be 100% biodegradable over time.
Reusing the same bottle and getting it recycled responsibly definitely reduces the carbon footprint, and I look forward to the future when the product goes 100% sustainable.

Our mindful consumption and reduction of plastic can create a big difference overall. Averagely an Indian person uses 11kg plastic in a year whereas an American uses 109kg in a year. We are not only using plastic but also consuming approximately 5 gram a week. Plastic is killing our ecosystem and destroying our planet. We really need to do changes in our lifestyle habits to save this planet and our health. We don’t have to be perfect, we only need to try!

1. I ditched single use plastic, carry bags for shopping.
2. I get coconut water at home and drink it in a glass or carry my portable glass.
3. Using shampoo and body wash bars.
4. Swapped for bamboo brushes
5. Swapped my nylon loofah with the biodegradable ones
6. Swapped my utensil scrubber with biodegradable scrubs.
7. Swapped my hair comb with the neem one
8. Stopped consuming cola and drinks which comes in plastic bottles
9. Swapped to menstrual cup, one is enough for years.
10. I try to buy local especially fruits and vegetables to avoid unnecessary plastic. When I am not able to, I buy from the stores who deliver fruits and veggies without plastic bags.
11. I ditched eating me@t and d@iry products and adopted a plant based life, because me@t industry is the biggest plastic waste contributor.
12. I also stopped buying clothes which are made of unsustainable materials, unsustainable materials are plastic only.
13. Rewear, reuse and recycle is the mantra of my practice of sustainable and plastic free life.
